I usually don’t respond to these confessions (also because i respect everyone has the freedom to express how/what they feel about a Diva/Superstar) but i feel like breaking down some things. Don’t know why i couldn’t reblog it; all credit for image above goes to “Ringsideconfessions”.
She doesn’t wrestle?
She wrestled at PPV’s and the Elimination Chamber PPV, when she doesn’t wrestle nights it’s giving the other Divas spots but some of you would then complain about AJ not being on TV and that she’s a terrible champion for not having a match, then when she does wrestle whine about “Why does AJ get all the TV time”. As in in-ring moves? Yes, it is annoying how she doesn’t even seem interested, but that’s Creatives fault, everyone get’s watered down.. AJ doesn’t even have segments like she used to.
She wins all of her matches?
Nah, she lost a few (and went on a losing streak for a brief moment) and people reacted “I’m tired of Total Divas winning every match, AJ’s better than them." then when she wins even ONE match it’s "AJ’s always winning, she doesn’t let other women shine.”. She’s proved she can win without Tamina but as a heel, a cowardly one at that (remember Eddie Guerrero? Shawn with Diesel? Orton, or Del Rio’s tactics?), and having Tamina distract makes her character even more rub-it-in-your-face heel.
She’s the only one with a gimmick?
Most of the women don’t have any gimmick (Aksana, Alicia Fox, The Bella’s, Eva Marie, etc.), true, but AJ’s not the only Diva with a gimmick; there’s Summer Rae (who’s doing a fantastic job playing her character in NXT as leader of The BFF’s and on the main roster with Fandango as an artiste of “the art of dance” and grandeur. She’s playing 2 different characters and at times blend them with her mannerisms and speech), Emma (being the care-free awkward bubbly one that she is has an entire theme about + around her, who’ll eventually show her wrestling skills), The Funkadactyls (they don’t get to show it much more-so in ring but they have a energetic cheerful vibe, if you watch their backstage interviews they bring the fun/party with them everywhere, their entrance and some of their moves are even festive and they’ve been rolling with it for now) and Tamina (who doesn’t speak much but her role is an intimidating protector, and she shows that in-ring and protects AJ whenever she’s in any harm even if it costs her- or anyone- a match). Thing is, they don’t get to build on the characters they have, they’re only given 2-3 minutes to work with something that they have to carry out for months unsure of direction. In terms of AJ’s gimmick, if the original confessor is talking about the “crazy” character, she hasn’t done anything psychotic or crazy in months (her whispering to her title were the last fading traits of the crazy thing), she’s moved on from that to now a more holier-than-thou “I’m better than every Diva and no one deserves to even touch me.” type gimmick.
It could be greater but Creative gives her no direction to go so she’s also stuck with the bread crumbs she has and tries to make a sandwich. Not her fault, and as much as people try to make it seem like she is, AJ’s not separate from the division, if the division is stagnant her title reign and competition is stagnant as well; she’s a writer so i’m sure she’s frustrated too not being able to express her ideas and use moves she wants to show in ring (remember when she did Hurricanrana's, Tornado DDT's, etc.?).
Glad you made this before I did. Good work
